PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Liquid Rubber SPLAST is a liquid mixture of natural cork chips and special water-based acrylic polymers, technical additives and pigments. Application of SPLAST allows you to get an amazing decorative textured cork coating, with high functional benefits and characteristics. This coating retains all the qualities of natural cork: it is environmentally friendly, vapor permeable, heat and sound insulating, resistant to atmospheric precipitation and biological decay. A combination of natural properties of cork and high weather resistance of the used polymers make SPLAST material a unique multifunctional product. The material possesses unique adhesion to any base. At ambient temperature +25°C and 50%, relative humidity 80%, SPLAST coating completely dries off within 24 hours. The drying time increases as temperature drops and humidity rises. +150°C
SCOPE OF APPLICATION
SPLAST coating is used for decorative cladding of facades, interiors, both in residential and industrial buildings and structures. The environmental friendliness of the material allows it to be used for decorative wall decoration in children’s rooms. In addition, the success of the liquid cork SPLAST is easiness in use combined with high aesthetics and functionality and durability. Affordable application technology of liquid cork SPLAST and easiness of use allows anyone to independently apply SPLAST without special training and knowledge in the field of constructional technologies, without expensive equipment and without the involvement of third-party specialists. Due to the high adhesiveness of the used polymers, liquid cork SPLAST is suitable for the application on any type of material: reinforced concrete, plaster, natural and artificial stone, facing bricks, silicate and aerated concrete blocks, gypsum sheets, plywood, OSB boards, wood, slate, asbestos, black galvanized or painted iron, metal, polyurethane foam and polystyrene foam .
HEAT INSULATION, ENERGY SAVING
SPLAST – a warm covering that will protect your home from cold and heat. The natural feature of cork as well as of SPLAST coating is that having a low thermal conductivity, this material will fully protect your home in winter in cold weather and in summer in hot weather. In winter it will be warm, dry and cozy, and in summer it will be cool and comfortable. Due to these natural properties of cork, the walls of the house will not freeze in winter and overheat in summer, which will significantly save energy, both for heating and cooling your accommodation. Cork SPLAST works as a thermal insulator, without spreading heat and cold, it guarantees a comfortable indoor microclimate that does not depend on the outside temperature or humidity in the room. The use of cork SPLAST indoors, especially on the surface of external walls, allows you to avoid the formation of a dew point on the surface during the cold season. Thus, it prevents the formation of condensate on the top of the walls, especially in the corners, as well as the formation of mold, fungus, which make the microclimate inside the house unpleasant and lead to possible consequences in the form of allergies in people with reduced immunity, children and the elderly. The convenience of SPLAST coating is that it can be used as an intermediate layer, followed by putty on top to create a smooth surface. It also perfectly suits wet basements, attics, loggias and balconies where condensation may form due to the large difference between outside and inside temperatures.
WATER PROTECTION AND VAPOR PERMEABILITY
In addition to being a thermal insulator, SPLAST also performs the function of the membrane that lets the moisture, which gets accumulated in the room, outside through the wall due to the natural physical effect of osmosis. Water-repellent cork qualities are well known. Also, the composition of SPLAST includes high-quality water and weather resistant acrylic polymers in addition to natural cork, so its application to the facades ensures protection from rainwater and other precipitation, increasing the lifetime of the facades. At the same time the used polymers in SPLAST guarantee a constant elasticity of the coating preventing the possible formation of microcracks.
DURABILITY
Cork is a natural product, which is resistant to biodegradation, aggressive chemicals; the used polymers as well as pigments are resistant to UV radiation, temperature conditions, corrosive substances in the environment. This combination of ingredients of the liquid cork SPLAST makes it almost eternal. or applying the material on the porous fragile bases (silicate blocks, bricks, plaster) it is recommended to process the surface with acrylic primer of deep penetration. For any other surfaces the material is applied without any prior primer treatment
PERFORMANCE OF WORK
SPLAST can be applied with a conventional construction trowel. To increase the speed of work, it is enough to have a conventional compressor and an inexpensive textured HOPPER gun. For professionals who need high productivity, it is recommended to us Graco TexSpray RTX 2500 PI with a peristaltic pump that can allow to cover an area of over 700 m² per shift with 2 operators. SPLAST is applied in one layer up to 4 mm thick without special preparatory work. The working pressure of the compressor during application is from 4 to 5 atmospheres, the nozzles used are from 4 to 6 mm. For a decorative coating with a thickness of 2 mm, it is necessary to spend 1.0-1.2 kg / m² (application in 1 layer). When supplying the material in set with the color paste, it is necessary to mix the cork, binder and color paste until you get a homogeneous mass of uniform color. Applying the material using spray equipment should be done in a circular motion.
CONSUMPTION
To get a heat-saving coating, it is necessary to achieve a thickness of 4.0-4.5 mm., At the same time, the material consumption should be 2.2-2.5 kg/m² (application in 2 layers). To get a decorative coating, a thickness of 1.8 – 2.0 mm is sufficient, while the material consumption should be 2.2-2.5 kg/m² (application in 2 layers). SPLAST is supplied in basic natural cork color. The product is easily colored with the help of the pigment paste, according to the SUBERPLAST primary color chart (46 options) and the RAL scale.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF WORKS
Works should be carried out at air temperature from +5 to + 30°C and relative air humidity no more than 80%. Wear protective clothing, goggles and gloves while working. Wash off fresh dirt with water. In case of contact with eyes, rinse with plenty of water and seek medical advice. When using the material, please, follow current regulations related to construction.
STORAGE
The material should be stored in undamaged tightly closed packaging in a dry place at a temperature no lower than +5°C. The shelf life is within 24 months from the date of manufacture.
